Two Identification Methods for Purchasing Sunglasses

1. Check the Product Label Carefully
Pay attention to whether the eyewear are marked with UV protection and impact resistance functions. Not all sunglasses can block UV rays. If a pair of sunglasses has “UV protection” functionality, the product label or the front of the frame should bear markings such as “100% UV Protection” or “UV400”.

For sunglasses with “impact resistance” functionality, the label or instruction manual should include descriptions like “impact-resistant performance”, “FDA certified”, or “compliant with the highest European and American standards”. Meanwhile, keep these labels or manuals for future reference in case of any issues.

In particular, when fitting myopic children with myopic sunglasses, it is recommended to choose myopic sunglass lenses with impact resistance to prevent unnecessary accidents during children’s active play.

2. Observe the Lens Quality
When holding sunglasses in front of your eyes, look at distant objects through the lenses and move the glasses up, down, left, and right. The target should not appear to wobble, and the lens color should remain stable. When looking through the lenses, the colors of surrounding objects should not be distorted, and you should be able to distinguish different colored traffic lights.

The darkness of sunglass lenses has little to do with UV resistance. When selecting sunglasses, in addition to pursuing aesthetics and checking labels, pay more attention to their protective functions. High-quality sunglasses can effectively block UV rays and glare, reducing damage to the eyes from bright light, harmful UV rays, and glare. Polarized lenses, anti-reflective coated lenses, etc., can help sunglasses better reduce glare, prevent reflection, enhance object contrast in foggy or overcast weather, and ensure clear vision.
